Ninety-three years ago the tradition started and today the tradi-
tion continues. Bert Wood and Fred Jones established a formula
for their small printing business: careful selection of machinery,
well-trained craftsman, choosing the right raw materials for the
job, conscientious production and fast, courteous service.

Together, Bert a pressman from England and Fred a Canadian
t y p o g r a p h e r ,
started business on Colorado Boulevard in
Pasadena, California. Their focus on printing as a craft was car-
ried on by Bert’s son Richard Wood and nephew, Dave Wood
and it continues as the focus today. Wood & Jones has been one
of the few printing firms in Southern California that continues to
blend old-word craftsmanship with modern, high technology.

What does Wood & Jones bring to the merger with Typecraft,
Inc.? They bring some classic, time-proven machinery which can
still do many things better than today’s new high technology
print-ers. Small 2-color presses for sophisticated stationery
systems orinvitations are now are available. In addition, they bring
the art of embossing, hot foil stamping, die cutting and bindery on
site– which means that every step is monitored to meet Typecraft
Wood & Jones’ high standards of quality.

Wood & Jones are also designated by the Crane’s Paper
Company as a premium printer and as a direct mill distributorship
for the social line of Crane’s paper. This enhances the ability to
serve the high-end invitation, announcement and personal sta-
tionery needs of clients.
