Transfering files to Typecraft Wood & Jones
- Compress your files and include a PDF version of your project to be used as hardcopy. - Email our Prepress Department to let us know you've uploaded files to either our FTP site or our iDisk. Using FTP - FTP File Naming Conventions For your files to traverse the network successfully, you must name them in - Avoid character spaces in filenames. Although this is perfectly acceptable for local files on a Macintosh or Windows machine, character are not recognized by other systems. It is common to use an underscore or hyphen character to visually separate words within filenames, such as andre_bio.html or andre-bio.html. - Avoid special characters such as ?, %, #, /, and : in file names. It
is best to limit filenames to letters, numbers, underscores (in place of - Keep filenames as short as possible. Some systems will truncate files
names that exceed a certain length when transferring files over a network
thus loosing links with the client’s application document; Quark or
InDesign. Files then have to be relinked adding processing time to the
